How to wear
summer whites

by

For the summer months I follow the mantra ‘less is more’. At The Posh Rock that means cool shirts, minimal make-up and delicate accessories. I love the chance to wear light colours which work great with a tan. But going for an all-out white outfit isn’t always the easiest to piece together. Here are four ways that any age can embrace the trend.

How to wear summer whites - Linen shirt

A beautifully cut shirt is an investment piece that every woman should own. Linen is a great fabric for holidaying (although less practical at home when it requires frequent ironing!), making you feel cool yet sophisticated. I’ve been promoting this look all summer; shirts are a great alternative to the beach cover-up and something that you can pack for a full day hopping between the beach and the bar.

How to wear summer whites - Maxi Dress

Co-ords have been a massive trend this summer and, while flashing the flesh can be a scary prospect, a duo like this skirt and top is a subtler way to hint at the trend. A maxi dress or skirt is a holiday must-have. This look can take you from a lazy lunch to cocktails and dinner.

I like to find ways to incorporate new looks into my own style and this midi off the shoulder offers sophistication with a touch of glamour. The length and shape of this dress is super flattering and great for date night.

How to wear summer whites - Trilby Hat and shorts

Emilie and I recently spent ten days in Mykonos and needed to nail a couple of outfits for exploring the town! It’s common to shy away from shorts once we hit our 40s but shorts don’t need to equal small denim hot pants! A tailored playsuit like this is flattering for all shapes and sizes. Top with a hat for ultimate city chic – this trilby was a lifesaver to keep cool in the heat.

Shop the trend

Here are three of my favourite pieces available to shop now

1. 'Hama' white piped flare hem midi dress - £109

I am in L O V E with this House of CB dress where the devil is in the detail. A structural bustier cut and crepe material, this dress gives you shape but also comfort, whilst the flare detail around the hem adds to that feminine silhouette.

2. REMI - White halter neck fitted midi dress - £64.99

If I’m wearing something plain in colour or pattern, I want the detail to stand out. I love the elegant overlay of straps, drawing attention to the neck and shoulders. Dress up with gold accessories and an up-do for big glam!

3. Asymmetric Tuxedo Style Jumpsuit in Off White - £105

People often think they’re too short, too tall or ‘have a funny shape’ to wear a jumpsuit, but you just have to invest in finding the right one. Lavish Alice is a brand worth checking out if you haven’t already, full of quirky, modern pieces like this tuxedo style number. There is just something about tailoring which makes me feel more confident and ready to tackle the day!
